TOP GEAR: COAST TO COAST

Our favorite Top Gear U.S. gents, Rutledge Wood, Adam Ferrara, and Tanner Foust were at it again, only this time the epic challenge was from New York City to Los Angeles in an all-out 3000-mile road trip, with challenges sprinkled in between. The loser of the challenge had to pay the entire gas bill accumulated over the trip.

Last month on September 3, 2013, Top Gear U.S. returned to TV land with their season 4 series premiere titled “Coast to Coast.” Automobili Lamborghini America teamed up with Top Gear and provided one of its most hardcore vehicles, the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale, to give the two other competing cars a run for their money.

Starting from lower Manhattan, the boys met to size up each other’s weapon of choice and immediately embarked on their bi-coastal journey. It’s not until they snaked their way through the typically snarled Manhattan traffic that they got to see what these machines could really do.

En route to Pennsylvania they encountered their first challenge, which was to secure an authentic Amish hat. Although each used their deft tactics to secure a hat, it was Rutledge who used the approach of giving an Amish farmer the ride of his life in exchange of his hat, which worked – obviously! Other challenges included taking a photo of their car on the 50-yard line of a football stadium in the Midwest and having the hosts take a picture of a celebrity in their car before their final stop in Venice Beach. It was a wild ride.

We caught up with our Lamborghini hero Rutledge and asked how his experience was. He commented, "Driving the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Stradale across the U.S. was a dream come true for me. To drive a car with so much power and so much style on a once-in-a-lifetime road trip is something I'll never forget. The Stradale is truly an awesome machine."

And awesome it was. Viewers will get a great sense of how well the car performed, no matter the location.
